This handmade rune pendant has been shaped from terracotta clay and imprinted with the Othala rune, usually placed last in the Elder Futhark Viking runic alphabet (sometimes Dagaz is placed at the end).
After firing in the kiln, it has been glazed using a green blue lead free glaze called Iceberg and then returned to the kiln for a final firing. The colour allows the terracotta to show through, resulting in a wonderfully rustic, primitive finish.
I have added a large Picasso jasper stone and a waxed cotton cord.
The length is adjustable using the sliding knots.
Othala’s energy comes from within ourselves, it represents inheritance from family, either literally, or what we have inherit in our genes. It can relate to feelings and beliefs that have been passed down to us and it is linked to our origins.
I've teamed it with Picasso Jasper, a stone that promotes celebrating and enjoying life, bringing optimism and openness. It’s great for creativity, stability and strength.
